What are Terpenes?

What are Terpenes?

What are Terpenes?

Long story short, terpenes are the chemicals that give things their unique smell.  There are over 20,000 terpenes that determine these smells, either alone or combined with other terpenes.  An example of this is limonene, which is the terpene that is responsible for citrus scents. Different terpenes can have different influences on your body, such as energizing or relaxing effects.

Benefits of Terpenes

Terpenes can help boost your mood, relax you, reduce inflammation, and assist with pain relief, just to name a few of the benefits.  Think of lavender to relax, citrus to energize, and chamomile for calming. Some terpenes can even aid in reducing inflammation and pain relief.

Terpenes in Zatural Products

Zatural CBD products are 3rd party tested, so we can verify the quality and potency of our products.  These lab results also give us the breakdown of terpenes present in our CBD oil.  Below is an outline of the top terpenes found, let’s look at why this is a benefit to you:

Beta-Cayophyllene is a terpene that is found in high-concentrations in cloves, and has been known to have anti-inflammatory properties.

Gamma-Eudesmol has a sweet and waxy taste and is common in rosemary and thyme.  This terpene may have a toxic effect on cancer cells.

Guaiol is a pine-like terpene that is found in tropical hardwoods, such as cypress trees.  It is most known for having anti-inflammatory properties, as well as antioxidant properties.

Bulnesol has a spicy profile and can be found in spices like black pepper.  Bulnesol is known to be an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.

Beta-Eudesmol tastes green and woody, and is common in walnut and basil.  It has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.

Interesting! Excited to try these in combination with my CBD drops. I love the drops but adding CBD in essential oils sounds like it may increase my CBD benefits. Thanks!
