Does Hemp Oil Help With Pain?

Pain, a common human experience, has prompted an increasing curiosity about natural alternatives for relief. Enter hemp oil – a wellness solution that has garnered attention for its potential benefits in pain management.

As the demand for holistic remedies grows, the spotlight turns toward hemp seed oil and its potential role in alleviating discomfort. This blog aims to unravel the connection between hemp seed oil and pain relief, shedding light on its mechanisms and exploring whether it holds promise as a natural option for those seeking respite from various forms of pain.

Join us as we embark on a journey to uncover the potential benefits of hemp seed oil for effective and natural pain management.

What Is Hemp Oil?

The term hemp oil can describe any oil extracted from the hemp plant. However, more often than not, products labeled as hemp oil are hemp seed oil, an oil extracted from the hemp plant's seeds. Hemp oil gathered from the leaves, flowers, or stem is often referred to as Hemp extract or CBD oil.

CBD oil is not the same as hemp seed oil. The hemp plant seeds are rich in nutrients such as healthy fats, vitamins, and proteins. In comparison, CBD or hemp extract is rich in cannabinoids like CBD, THC, CBN, CBC, and CBG. Hemp seed oil may contain trace amounts of these cannabinoids, but there is not enough to add any benefits.

The benefits of hemp seed oils' rich nutrient profile have been found to assist with discomfort, mood, and sleep. In comparison, the benefits of CBD and hemp extract are similar to hemp seed oil. It leaves the question of which one is better or more effective for assisting with discomfort.

Hemp Oil For Discomfort

Understanding how the two different types of hemp oil naturally assist with discomfort is important. Hemp seed oil uses nutrients like omega to naturally assist with different factors that cause discomfort. In contrast, hemp extract or CBD oil uses cannabinoids to naturally block discomfort signals. As we continue, we will explore how the two different types of hemp oil respond to discomfort symptoms.

Hemp vs. Hemp Extract/CBD For Inflammation Discomfort

Different types of factors can cause pain in the human body. One of the most common factors is inflammation. Inflammation is a natural response of the body's immune system to injury, infection, or harmful stimuli. It's a crucial part of the body's defense mechanism to help eliminate the source of damage and promote healing.

During inflammation, the body releases various chemicals and immune cells to the affected area, resulting in redness, swelling, heat, and pain.

Hemp For Inflammation Discomfort

Hemp seed oil contains a unique blend of nutrients believed to contribute to its potential role in assisting with inflammation. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, two essential fatty acids found in hemp seed oil, play a crucial role in modulating inflammation in the body.

These fatty acids serve as precursors to molecules known as prostaglandins, which are involved in the body's inflammatory response. By influencing the production of these molecules, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids can help regulate inflammation and maintain a balanced immune response.

Additionally, hemp seed oil is rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a type of omega-6 fatty acid that has anti-inflammatory properties. GLA can help inhibit the production of inflammatory compounds and promote the production of anti-inflammatory substances.

Furthermore, hemp seed oil contains antioxidants like vitamin E, which help combat oxidative stress and reduce inflammation. Antioxidants neutralize harmful free radicals that contribute to inflammation and cellular damage.

CBD and Hemp Extract For Inflammation Discomfort

CBD, or cannabidiol, is thought to assist with inflammation due to its interaction with the body's endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is pivotal in regulating various physiological processes, including immune responses and inflammation.

CBD has been shown to interact with cannabinoid receptors in the ECS, particularly the CB2 receptors found on immune cells. By influencing these receptors, CBD may help modulate immune responses and reduce the release of inflammatory molecules. CBD's anti-inflammatory properties may also stem from its ability to inhibit certain enzymes that contribute to inflammation.

While more research is needed to fully understand the extent of hemp and CBD's anti-inflammatory effects, both suggest that they may promote a healthier inflammatory response within the body. It's important to note that while hemp and CBD might offer potential benefits, individual responses can vary.

Consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating it into your routine is recommended, especially if you're seeking assistance with specific inflammatory conditions.

Hemp vs. Hemp Extract/CBD For Different Forms of Pain

There are other forms of discomfort that hemp oil can assist. Let's quickly cover some areas of the body where physical discomforts often occur and how to assist it with hemp oil. Understanding how hemp oil may aid the various forms of physical discomfort will give you an idea of the best way to use your hemp oil.

Lower Back Discomfort

Data shows that up to 80% of people globally experience back pain at some point. That's not all, though; its prevalence seems to be growing; since 1990, there has been a 54% worldwide increase in years lived with disability due to back pain.

Back discomfort ranges in intensity from dull, constant discomfort to a sudden, sharp sensation. Hemp oil will not cure, reduce, or prevent symptoms associated with lower back discomfort. Still, anecdotal evidence suggests that you may be able to use hemp oil for pain relief.

In other words, instead of using common painkillers that may be addictive or have severe side effects, some people prefer a more natural option, such as hemp oil.

When using hemp oil to aid with this back discomfort, it's advisable to apply it topically if sore muscles are causing it. The best topical hemp oil products usually contain cannabinoids. Hemp seed oil won't be very effective for soothing back discomfort. Still, the cannabinoids in a topical CBD product would offer the support you're looking for.

CBD oil, gummies, or softgels will be your best option if the back discomfort is nerve-related. Cannabinoids are closely linked to the nervous system and may provide the relief you're looking for out of your hemp product.

Please note that in many cases, back pain results from an underlying medical condition. Before using hemp oil, make sure to consult your doctor.

Nerve Discomfort

Nerve discomfort is common due to damaged, irritated, or dysfunctional nerves. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke reports that at least 20 million US citizens suffer from nerve discomfort. By no means is hemp oil a cure for nerve discomfort. Still, it may be a natural option for people who want to avoid the side effects of most over-the-counter pain medication.

According to the Journal of Experimental Medicine, cannabinoids such as CBD may aid in suppressing inflammation and nerve discomfort by targeting α3 glycine receptors. Omega's in hemp oil can assist with nerve discomfort caused by inflammation. Taking hemp oil for pain internally is the best option for this type of discomfort.

Once more, we can't make this claim here at zatural.com as we prefer to give you information instead of imposing a specific product or compound. Also, more data on humans is needed to know how hemp oil may aid nerve discomfort.

Joint Discomfort

Joint pain is associated with various conditions, including inflammatory and musculoskeletal conditions. Typical treatments for joint discomfort involve weak opioids and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Can hemp oil aid joint discomfort in any way? Anecdotal evidence suggests yes.

Joint discomfort caused by inflammation can be reduced with hemp seed and hemp extract oil. One uses omegas, and the other uses cannabinoids like CBD and CBD to reduce joint inflammation and pain. However, hemp oil will not be sufficient to assist joint discomfort caused by bone-on-bone contact.

Studies suggest that topical CBD may have assisted in reducing joint swelling in rats. Of course, more studies are needed before zatural.com can make such claims, but preliminary findings are promising.

Headaches

Omega fatty acids in hemp seed oil may help regulate blood flow and reduce inflammation. At the same time, vitamin E's antioxidant effects might protect cells from oxidative stress that could trigger headaches. However, it's important to note that hemp seed oil doesn't contain significant levels of cannabinoids like CBD, so its effects may be more indirect. However hemp oil for muscle aches works the same as headaches.

CBD, or cannabidiol, interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system (ECS), which plays a role in pain perception and inflammation. Some headaches are caused by inflammation or heightened pain sensitivity.

CBD's interaction with ECS receptors, particularly CB1 and CB2 receptors, could influence pain signaling and inflammation regulation. It may also impact serotonin receptors, which could contribute to pain relief and mood improvement. Additionally, CBD's potential to relax muscles and reduce anxiety may indirectly alleviate tension-type headaches.

Hi Cherie,

I don’t know that any of our CBD products can assist with that type of swelling, but you can give it a try. I would suggest giving our Broad Spectrum CBD oil a try.

I would start with the 100mg per serving strength as well. Here is a link to that product. https://zatural.com/products/broad-spectrum-cbd-oil-drops

Zatural,

What would be the best for Chads swelling in the brain. And arm swelling?
