Description

Zatural Shea Butter is 100% organically grown and sourced from West Africa. Zatural Shea butter is virgin and unrefined. Shea Butter natural is pale or yellowish and carries a characteristic odor. Shea can be applied directly to the skin or hair for therapeutic benefits.

What is Shea?

Shea comes from the nut of the shea tree, most commonly found in Africa. Shea nuts are picked, cracked, roasted, and then pounded into an extract. It is then boiled for several hours until the shea butter rises. The shea butter is then pressed out of the nut, resulting in unrefined Shea Butter.

Shea is naturally solid at room temperature but contains a melting point of 98º-113º. Shea is often used in cosmetics for its naturally high fatty acid and vitamin A & D content. This butter provides moisturizing and hydrating benefits for both skin and hair.

Benefits for Skin

Shea's natural oil soaks right into your skin and creates a soft barrier that seals in moisture and smooths skin. Shea can increase the skin's collagen production along with a lasting moisturizing effect. Shea butter may also help increase skin elasticity.

Due to the high fatty acid content in shea, shea butter has extensive anti-inflammatory properties. She may help reduce redness or swelling found on the body or face.

Benefits of Hair

Shea butter has more potential for hair care than people realize. It is known that products containing ingredients with a high fatty acid content can assist in strengthening hair and preventing breakage from occurring. Shea Butter is high in various vitamins, especially vitamins A and E.

With the fatty acid content and vitamins, Shea Butter may assist with locking in moisture and reducing split ends caused by dryness. Shea may also help protect hair from heat damage caused by blow dryers or hair irons.

As mentioned above, Shea has anti-inflammatory properties can help reduce scalp irritations and redness. Shea is safe for all hair types, even dry, damaged, or color-treated hair.

Suggested Use

Shea Butter can be used for topical skin or hair care products or as a base for balm or ointment.*

Direct Application:

  1. Scoop out a dime-sized amount
  2. Melt butter by rubbing hands together
  3. Once the butter is melted, apply directly to hair, scalp, face, or other areas where dryness occurs.

DIY Melt & Pour Directions: Slowly heat using a double boiler on medium heat or place in a glass bowl and microwave for 30-45 second intervals, stirring after each interval. Once thoroughly melted, you can add additional carrier or essential oils if desired. However, the addition of oils will soften the Shea Butter.

Experiment with small amounts of additional ingredients until you achieve your desired results. Remember, you can always add more, but you cannot take any away. This product can be heated repeatedly, be cautious not to heat it to boiling. Once your product is melted, pour it into your packaging, leave it open and let it sit, occasionally stirring until it completely cools. Do not cap until the product is back at room temperature; this will prevent condensation on the cap's inside.
