What are the benefits of CBD and apple cider vinegar?

What Are The Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar With Mother?

The history of vinegar can be traced back to 5,000 BC when used in much the same way we use it today: a food source, a preserving agent, a household cleaner, and medical/therapeutic purposes.

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) can be traced back to the ancient physician Hippocrates, who prescribed it to patients suffering from coughs and colds. Today, apple cider vinegar has been widely studied for its astounding health and wellness benefits, making it one of the most popular supplements on the market.

Recently, CBD companies have found an interest in apple cider vinegar and have combined it with CBD to form a remarkable product for wellness. What are the benefits of combining CBD and apple cider vinegar, and how should you incorporate it into your wellness routine?

What Is Apple Cider Vinegar?

Before we dive into the benefits of CBD and apple cider vinegar, we should explain what it is and why it is so popular for overall wellness! Apple cider vinegar (ACV) comes from crushed apples that have been fermented at room temperature, forming alcohol that natural bacteria convert into acetic acid.

During this conversion, "mother" is formed. So, what are the benefits of apple cider vinegar with mother? The term "Mother" describes the natural strands of proteins, enzymes, and healthy bacteria that form throughout the vinegar as it ferments.

The ACV benefits all come from those compounds found in the mother, making the mother a must-have in any ACV bottle. This gives ACV its natural cloudy sediment look.

Some companies strain the mother out, but others leave it in because of its natural benefits. The whole fermentation process usually takes about 2-4 weeks, and ACV liquid becomes amber-colored.

Can Apple Cider Vinegar Help You Lose Weight?

Everyone wants a good weight loss supplement, and apple cider vinegar may be just that! According to a study published in 2018 by the Journal of Functional Foods, apple cider vinegar positively affected weight loss in the subjects who participated in the experiment. Those test subjects reported a reduced appetite compared to the placebo group.

Researchers administered 30 mL of ACV per day to participants for 12 weeks to come to these conclusions. After 12 weeks, these participants experienced "significantly reduced body weight, BMI, hip circumference, visceral adiposity index, and appetite score" compared to the control placebo group.

Researchers attributed these findings to a reduced appetite after ACV administration, resulting in reduced cravings and smaller portions.

Overall, more research is needed to explain exactly how apple cider vinegar reduces appetite. The results from this study are promising and very exciting for the world of weight loss.

How Does CBD + Apple Cider Vinegar Work Together?

Combining CBD with apple cider vinegar (ACV) can have synergistic effects, especially in the digestive tract. CBD's relaxation and calming benefits may help prevent emotional eating, which can contribute to weight gain.

Additionally, CBD's potential to improve comfort levels could encourage physical activity, supporting weight management indirectly by promoting a more active lifestyle and reducing the urge to overeat due to emotional distress.

While CBD won't directly cause weight loss, its effects on mood and comfort levels may help you make healthier choices and stay more active. Click here to learn more about the benefits of CBD.

Why Should I Take Apple Cider Vinegar?

The benefits of ACV make it a popular choice for many individuals. Rich in acetic acid and antioxidants, ACV may aid in weight management, digestion, and blood sugar regulation. Incorporating a daily dose of apple cider vinegar into your routine could support overall health and well-being.

Blood Sugar Control

When apple cider vinegar is made, helpful bacteria change alcohol into something called acetic acid. Scientists have found that this acetic acid might help lower blood sugar levels.

One 2015 study discovered that after people ate a lot of carbohydrates, the acetic acid in vinegar could lower how much glucose and insulin their bodies made.

But in another study, when people with type 2 diabetes took vinegar, their bodies seemed to use glucose better, and their insulin worked better, too.

So, it seems like apple cider vinegar can assist in reducing blood sugar, but more research is needed to understand exactly how it works.

Weight Management And Appetite Control

We've already discussed that apple cider vinegar positively affects weight loss, but let's further discuss how this might be possible.

Research has shown that acetic acid may be the biggest player in using apple cider vinegar for weight loss. A 2014 study showed that acetic acid when converted to acetate, will enter the brain and result in appetite suppression.

This type of appetite suppression helped users from feeling snacky. This helped those in the study lose weight because they ate less throughout the day.

A 2016 study found that acetic acid can play a role in slowing the development of fat buildup in the body. Instead, it helped to flush out those fat cells rather than letting them be distributed to areas of the body.

Antimicrobial Properties

One 2018 study demonstrated that ACV has the potential to act as an antimicrobial agent against different types of microorganisms. This has important implications for potential clinical applications in treating infections in the digestive system and throughout the body.

ACV may also boost our immune system and regulate overall gut health. Gut health plays a vital role in immune health because a significant portion of our immune system is located in the gastrointestinal tract, also known as the gut.

The gut is lined with a complex network of immune cells, including lymphocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells, which collectively form the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT). This immune system in the gut acts as a defense mechanism against harmful pathogens, toxins, and foreign substances.

Heartburn or Acid Reflux

Apple cider vinegar is believed to help with heartburn, a burning sensation in the chest caused by acid reflux, for a few reasons:

Acidic pH

Despite its acidic nature, apple cider vinegar can actually help balance stomach acid levels. Heartburn is often caused by low stomach acid rather than excessive acid production. Consuming apple cider vinegar, which is acidic, may help increase stomach acid levels and improve digestion.

Acid Reflux Trigger

Some individuals experience acid reflux due to a lack of stomach acid, leading to improper digestion and the reflux of stomach contents into the esophagus. Drinking apple cider vinegar may help stimulate acid production, aiding in the proper breakdown of food and reducing the likelihood of acid reflux.

Pectin Content

Apple cider vinegar contains pectin, a type of soluble fiber. Pectin may help soothe the esophagus and reduce irritation caused by acid reflux.

However, it's important to note that while some people find relief from heartburn by using apple cider vinegar, the scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness is limited.

If you have frequent or severe heartburn, it's recommended to consult with a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and guidance on managing your symptoms. They can provide appropriate treatment options and help address the underlying cause of your heartburn.

When Should I Stop Taking Apple Cider Vinegar?

Like any other therapeutic wellness product, you should take apple cider vinegar until you've received the desired results.

Taking large amounts of apple cider vinegar long-term may result in some side effects. Because apple cider vinegar is acidic, it may damage your teeth' enamel if taken for long periods.

Applying undiluted apple cider vinegar to the skin for long periods can result in burns, redness, and irritation. We can expect the same for our digestive tract if apple cider vinegar is taken in large amounts.

If you are taking diabetic medication or insulin, you should avoid using apple cider vinegar. These drugs lower your blood sugar level, and if combined with ACV, they could cause those levels to get too low.

Fortunately, most apple cider vinegar + CBD products are diluted to safe concentrations and should not result in these extreme side effects. It's important to follow the suggested advice on the bottle when taking ACV.

Sum It Up!

After all the information presented, it's hard to refute the benefits of taking ACV and CBD together. The health benefits of Apple cider vinegar can be amazing; the same goes for CBD.

If you want to improve your gut health, assist with blood sugar, or need help controlling your appetite? Then ACV is right for you. If you also regularly take CBD to assist with discomfort, support mood, and regulate good sleep habits, this product is also for you.

Hi Janice,

It is recommended that you follow the suggested use on the side of the bottle. The recommended serving size is 4 ml a day. However, the max that one person can take a day is about 2 tbsp a day or (30ml).

Can ACV be taken more than once a day—- currently taking it at bedtime—-would like to also take it in morning/ daytime for help with weight loss. Thanks
